Choose from the library of ideas that I have, or create your own design. When you have decided on what your creation will look like I will piece together the final proof for you. Nothing will commence without your approval.
Virtually anything that can be rendered into black and white can be etched onto glass. The majority of my work is done freehand however some clients prefer I use a template of theirs. The design is rotated and placed onto one side of the glass where the sk-etch is transferred. The design is then removed and the real fun begins by filling in the details bringing your creation to life.
Once I am satisfied with the piece, a final dusting is applied to remove any rough edges. All of the mantle pieces and wall hangings are given a foam core backing to enhance the image. Some clients prefer to have a color added and so a piece of colored paper is placed between the foam core and the glass. All of the clips for the wall hangings are handmade by me as well. Most of my creations are nipped and polished giving them a wonderfully unique look. The time involved in the entire process will vary from piece to piece, depending on the size and details of the design. Typically it takes anywhere from one to seven days to produce the finished product.
Creating the etchings in this manner ensures that you are receiving a piece of art that is truly one of a kind. It is my hope that you will enjoy owning one, or giving one as much as I enjoy creating them.
Please note that if for any reason Douglas cannot be of service to you, he will recommend someone who can.
